'The Year We Spent Alone' is an audiovisual publication I completed in 2022. I recorded interviews with people across all age groups in the London borough of Waltham Forest about their experience of the Covid 19 Pandemic. I turned those interviews into a couple of short comics, focusing on the segments of people's stories. Every character represents a real person I interviewed, although some people chose to remain anonymous and were represented in the comic by a fictional character or animal of their choice.

Two years after the beginning of the pandemic, I felt as though many were struggling to process the collective trauma of the pandemic, despite the fact that things were starting to get 'back to normal'. I turned eighteen in lockdown and I felt as though Covid robbed those formative years from me. I felt as though I was able to connect with others through this project, as we worked through our parallel experiences of this intensely isolating thing that had happened to us all.
